Job Description:
Part-Time Flex-Time Job
SEO Technician positions are part-time, flextime. You would work at home, any hours you choose, but we ask a commitment for up to 20 hours per week. These positions are ideal for stay-at-home parents or semi-retired individuals. We are generally looking for seasoned, experienced workers. Please DO NOT apply if you are pursuing full-time employment or want to add to other part-time employment to make a full-time job.
Introduction
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of developing a web property with the objective of increasing its rank in the search engines. For instance, a client may wish to move his or her site from position #70 to position #10 or above in Google.
Search engine optimizers perform any of a number of duties in support of this objective:
-Modify the current code of the site to make it more attractive for a given keyword phrase (search term).
-Add content to a site to increase its relevance for a given search term.
-Acquire links to the customer s site from other related websites.
Duties
-Submits domain names (URLs) to a list of directories maintained by WordStalker
-Creates web pages and websites using instructions and checklists
-Uploads and downloads web pages using FTP technology
-Registers domain names
-Checks web properties for correct linking and other properties
-Analyzes client websites for a list of properties and makes recommended changes
-Engages in any of a list of analytic tasks relating to the status of a client s website
-Generates reports as needed
-Communicates with staff or clients
-Engages in other technical tasks as needed.
Generally, the work is repetitive and requires tight focus on technical details. This is not a job for those who require significant diversity of task, although there is considerable change in the structure of tasks from time to time.
Flexible Hours
WordStalker operates on an almost totally flexible schedule. Staff operate as contract workers and bill monthly for hours worked. Staff work at home and may work anywhere from ten to thirty hours per week, choosing any schedule, day or night, weekday or weekend, in which to work. Staff may take unpaid leave time at any time with adequate notice, but may be asked to commit to complete certain jobs or contracts. Staff must be able to attend monthly two-hour staff meetings held in the evening.
